I created Yoga for Migraine in 2020 after living with migraine for thirteen years.
I have been practicing yoga and dance since I was a teenager, but found it hard to manage the vigorous yoga styles I enjoyed before being diagnosed with migraine in my mid twenties.
I eventually developed chronic migraine while working as a busy public school teacher, dance company director and mothering a picky toddler. I became more and more depressed after “failing” one migraine treatment after the next with little improvement.
My own search for yoga for migraine practices left me empty-handed and desperate for a way to decrease my migraine pain and boost my mood. I realized that there was a need for a specialized yoga practice that was both safe and healing for people living with migraine.
And so Yoga for Migraine was born.
I’m RYT200 certified in yin, restorative and yoga nidra styles and working towards my Yoga Therapy certification. My additional certifications in Pain Care Aware Yoga and Pain Reprocessing Therapy (PRT) have honed my skills to help people retrain their brains and safely reverse their chronic pain symptoms.
Over the past few years, I have been featured at the 2021 Migraine World Summit, Migraine.com, Migraine Strong, Migraine Again, the National Headache Foundation’s For Head's Sake Podcast and the Yoga for All Bodies Podcast.
In addition to offering migraine-friendly yoga practices in my online classes and group coaching programs, I aim to make yoga physically and financially accessible for the wider migraine community. I offer free community yoga and wellness classes weekly in my Yoga for Migraine Facebook group and in collaboration with organizations like Miles for Migraine and RetreatMigraine.
I am proud to advocate for migraine to Congress every year in Headache on the Hill and to be a finalist in Wego Health’s 2022 Social Health Awards in the Creative Contributor category.
As a mother of two elementary age kids, I bring my life experience of living with migraine into my healing yoga practices. My mission is to help others overcome migraine with yoga and thrive.
FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
Beyond Migraine’s goal is to help you establish a daily 30 minute yoga practice. Expect to practice yoga about 3 hours per week plus 1 hour in group coaching and 1-2 hours of education and reflection activities for a total of 5-6 hours per week. These hours are an investment in your health that will actually save you exponentially more hours from time in bed with a migraine attack.
We meet Wednesdays (live Q&A calls) and Fridays (live yoga) at 9:30am PT/12:30pm ET/ 5:30pm GT.
All live sessions are recorded and included.
In addition to a weekly live coaching call and yoga class, you’ll get a weekly pre-recorded module with trainings on neuroscience, migraine research and yoga philosophy plus a daily yoga video to guide your practice. You will have unlimited coaching along the way.
Everything in Beyond Migraine is hosted on the Marvelous platform. You can access your modules, live calls, yoga classes and 1:1 sessions all in one place.
You have unlimited coaching access with me via email or FB messenger. Anytime you’re confused or overwhelmed, reach out to me. I will also connect with you each week for a check in. You can submit questions in our live group calls and connect personally in two 1:1 sessions (1:1 sessions not included in Move Over Migraine). You will feel more supported than ever!

Yes! But double check with your insurance to be sure. Both yoga and health coaching for a specific diagnosis (in this case, migraine) can be covered using your HSA/FSA funds.
Usually your insurance may ask for a "letter of medical necessity" from your doctor and then you're good to go.
My coaching programs are not covered by any other health insurance coverage besides HSA/FSA funds.

The Yoga for Migraine practices in this program are geared towards people who have been unable to exercise regularly due to migraine. Props and multiple options are always offered for each pose to make the practice comfortable and accessible to people of all fitness levels.
Yoga for Migraine is the only program that is created by a migraine warrior and specifically meets the unique needs and challenges of people living with migraine. Our focus is on relaxation and releasing neck and upper body tension. We eliminate common migraine triggers like inversions, fast vinyasa and poses that create neck strain. We offer practices for low and high pain days that will support you no matter how you’re feeling.
There are options for low pain and high pain day practices. One of my favorite practices when I’m stuck in bed with a migraine attack is yoga nidra, which simply involves laying in bed and listening to a guided meditation. What makes this program so doable is that there are always yoga practices that you can do no matter how much pain you’re in. What’s more, doing those practices during a high pain day can soothe your pain and help you recover more quickly.
The ideal yoga set up for this program is a yoga mat, one rectangular full-size yoga bolster, two foam yoga blocks, two yoga blankets, one yoga strap and an eye pillow or hand towel. Substitutes can be made with items around your house in a pinch, and I offer ideas in the course. Students have found that having the right props makes their practices so much more effective and comfortable.
Not at all! If this is your first foray into yoga or it’s been awhile, you’ve come to the right place. I specialize in helping people with migraine who have been unable to safely exercise (or even walk around their house) to develop a daily yoga practice and get moving again.
The yoga practices start out still and meditative and gradually progress to be more physically active. And you always are encouraged to adjust your yoga practice to match your pain level.
Yes! There is recent research showing yoga to reduce migraine attacks by almost half. In addition, the mindfulness, lifestyle management and group coaching approaches in this program are backed up by research to help reduce migraine attacks and their disability.
Most of my clients have reduced their migraine days at least 50% during my 8-week Beyond Migraine program. All of them have become more physically active, confident and more functional, allowing them to live fuller and richer lives doing what they love.
